Safeguarding

Safeguarding and Prevent Duty

We are committed to keeping every child safe and for this reason, we ensure that any adult working in school undertake rigorous criminal checks. We insist that any visitor to school who will be working in areas where children have access has clearance and photographic evidence of who they are. We pride ourselves in giving children “A Voice” and for this reason we investigate any allegation a child makes. All staff have had Child Protection training.

Safeguarding procedures

Here at Timbertree Academy, we take safeguarding very seriously. It is everybody's responsibility. If you have a concern around the safety of a child please contact Mrs Harjit Chahal (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Miss Katie Jones (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead). When the school is closed, please contact the MASH team on 01215 693100.

At Timbertree Academy, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our children. Safeguarding is a top priority, and we have implemented robust policies and procedures to create a safe and nurturing environment for everyone in our school community.

Staff members undergo regular safeguarding training to ensure that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns. We have designated safeguarding leaders who oversee all safeguarding matters and work closely with external agencies to ensure appropriate support is provided when needed.

Our safeguarding policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the latest guidance and best practices. These policies cover a wide range of areas, including child protection, online safety and anti-bullying.

We believe in the importance of promoting the welfare and well-being of our children through a whole-school approach. This includes creating a culture of openness and trust, where children feel safe to express their concerns and know that they will be taken seriously. We actively involve our children in decision-making processes and ensure that their wishes and feelings are considered when determining appropriate actions and support.

If you have any concerns about the safeguarding of a child at our school, please do not hesitate to contact one of the designated safeguarding leads. We are here to listen, support, and take appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of all our children.

At Timbertree Academy, we have built a strong, robust safeguarding culture amongst staff, children and parents for many years.

We safeguard children in many ways for example:

•    Through our child-centred approach which means that your child's thoughts, feelings and wishes will always be a priority
•    By creating an environment where children feel safe
•    Ensuring that all adults in school (including volunteers) do not pose a risk to children and know how to respond to concerns
•    Ensuring that staff are kept-up-to-date with policy, practice and new developments in safeguarding.

Our curriculum also covers aspects of safeguarding to ensure that our children learn how to keep themselves safe.
