As more and more of our work and play is done on a computer, gaming console or mobile device, it is imperative that we equip everyone with how to be safe whilst online. Our recent surveys have suggested ways we can help children, parents and staff at Timbertree with e-safety issues.

A date will be made early on in September 2015 to support children, parents and staff with e-safety. Mr Bunker from United Learning will  be providing the training.

A copy of our Being Safe Online leaflet can be found in the newsletter section of our website.

To help support you at home with e-safety I am recommending the following links to some excellent  websites for both parents and children.

Kidsmart  and Thinkuknow are great sites to support our children.

e-safety adviser has newsletters and guidance about things we should know about being safe online.

Vodafone has also produced several magazines called Digital Parenting which also provide excellent advice about keeping yourself and your children safe whilst online.

Let us know in school if these have been useful or if you come across anything else that would support us all with e-safety.

Remember our rules when being online:

  • Never use your full name. You may want to create a nick name to use when blogging or being online
  • Never give out any personal information such as your age,  phone number, address, school and private thoughts.
  • Never arrange to meet anyone.
  • Never include photographs or video clips of yourself, friends and family
  • Let your family know when you are online.  Share your online activity with them.
  • Always use the same language that you would use at school.
  • When commenting on someone’s, blog be respectful of their opinions.
  • Check that any facts you include are true and accurate.
  • Report any unkind remarks or blogs to an adult at home or at school.
